Hey all. just to let you know, in vero beach florida on monday, august 14, 2006 at 10 am est, 997 jack fm was born. It had previously had been 99.7 wgnx witch was a station playing 80, 90s and more. personally i like it better because i had heard jack fm on the internet and i was hoping we would get one here and we did.

Nooooo!!! Jack/Bob/Jill need to die! No local personality, and we all know its a beifed up 80's rock format.... and is limited.

No not here. Jack fm here will be having local personalities and they play oldies, rock, disco, rpa, every thing. It's not normal jack fm. it's way better

Its still a format, programmed and consulted. Maybe its a better version of the format, but still, its a format.

I think it's a lame attempt to compete with satellite radio. I have to agree that Jack/Bob/any station with someone's name is terrible! There's a "Mike FM" near us, and it's a pretty bad station, and the worst part is that it used to be a really good oldies station.

Would you be in Baasten, MA by any chance. If so WMKK (93-7 Mike-FM) was Rhythmic AC as "Star 93" I do believe. Though I may have the wrong freq on that one...

No, I'm on the West Coast. The "Mike F.M" I'm talking about is 105.1 (don't know if they changed their call sign, but it was KWSZ when it was oldies) in Lompoc, California, but I'm sure the one in Boston is just like it.

No no no no no no, don't get sirius. Get XM satellite radio better. Its way better, they have better pordible units, and they have better programing. You can listen to all the channels on line. I love XM and you need to get XM satellite radio instead of Sirius.

I can't stand Jack/Jill/Bob/Mike FM!! They all are horrible!! No local personilities, etc!! It's a lame etempt to compeete with XM etc. They all need to go!! (ESP JILL FM) that use to be an awesome AC Station until last year.

We have one hear in the Los Angeles market it is 93.1 Jack fm I don't like Jack F.M. I call it Jack ass F.M. Radio is not how it use to be back in the day like in the 80's.

I couldn't agree more on that! We've got a jack fm here in Vancouver, and it's nothin' to write home about at all, and I agree regular radio has gone to shit in a real hurry. I hear what you all are sayin' about no local personalities, and even if there was, it's all prerecorded for the most part.

Back in the 80's... Mike Joseph's "Hot Hits" format! "Hot Hits 98 WCAU-FM!". He was the king of that format, and everyone jumped on it. It was again, verry consulted, a verry tight CHR, but at least there was live, local jocks and personalities. and the jingles!

That may be your opinion, but in the sheer ratings department it is failing. It flopped big time over here, even prompting mayor bloomburgh to say "I'll never listen to that fucking CBS Radio again!" They've since converted back to CBS.

Jack FM is a lame-ass atempt to compete with iPods and other mp3 players. Why in the fuck would I want to listen to a radio station that by their positioning promos, plays what they want and doesn't give a shit about me the listener? Oh sure, real good concept, dumbfucks. why not say, this is JACK FM, playing what *you* want? But the listeners getting what they want out of a radio station was dead years ago. XM is the win as far as I'm concerned.

We have a Jack FM here in San Antonio also. For awhile, until I think 2004 it used to be KTFM 102.7, and at first it played I guess whatever current hip-hop/R&B music. It also had a pretty good DJ, although there was this other one that I thought was dumb and didn't like listening to him (thankfully, not on at the same time as the cool one.) Anyway, then, everyone apparently was gone and it turned into KRock that played old and new rock and didn't seem to use much talk time. Then, I think around a year later, it turned into Jack FM. I don't much mind it, and it has a good variety of music I think. In fact, I ended up hearing and from that, getting to find information on 2 songs, that don't play on any other station. And although I missed the old KTFM, that they had moved to another channel and play "old school", so I'm happy with that. *smile*
